Continuing the energy of Columbia’s Main Street redevelopment, the renovated Boyd Plaza replaces an outdated public space with a design that invites daily community use adjacent to the Columbia Museum of Art. Two pavilion structures anchor the plaza: one features a roof with skylight and flexible vertical screens for events connected to the museum, while the other serves as an open gathering spot for rest, picnics, and performances.

The pedestrian-friendly design includes a grove of mature hardwood trees, seat walls defining newly planted areas, and a new fountain base for the existing Keenan sculpture. The plaza provides much-needed flexible event and gathering space in the heart of Columbia’s Main Street district.
