This 10,000 square foot addition to a 1970's era classroom building is a sensitive example of contextual and efficient design. The addition for the Health Science and Science Programs provides new teaching labs, lab prep areas, health science classrooms, and administrative space with the latest in educational technologies. The building also provides a large flexible computer classroom for Nursing courses and testing. Seeking opportunities to enhance the campus with student centered spaces, the addition creates exterior courtyards that provide needed spaces for student interaction. The addition's exterior balances a sensitivity to the existing classroom context in terms of proportion, materiality, and general character with a more contemporary approach to fenestration, daylighting, and special detailing.
