“I’m very intentional about design quality, especially for how a project balances the functionality and experience, and particularly the value it adds to our community.”

Xin, a U.S.-licensed architect with professional practice experience in both China and the United States, has a Bachelor of Architecture from Shenyang Jianzhu University. She completed a Master of Architecture with a Digital Ecologies Certificate at Clemson University in 2022.
Xin says she was drawn to Quackenbush Architects + Planners because of its success in planning and designing innovative projects that focus on the community and sustainability. When she first moved to Columbia, South Carolina, with her husband, she had seen and was intrigued by Boyd Plaza on Main Street and the University of South Carolina’s Center for Health and Well-Being. She then began to follow the firm’s work, she says. “I felt like my design values aligned with theirs.”
She is most proud of a project she worked on in Shanghai, which entailed designing a mixed-used senior campus that provided opportunities for elders and children to interact in a setting that included housing, health and social services, and a park.
