The Lyman Center embodies the current mission and philosophy of the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, bringing counseling, rehabilitation, and work production services together in one facility. Designed for an organization that values its standing in the business community, the center reaches toward a corporate and technological aesthetic while blending into its wooded site on the Middle Tyger River.

The 35,000-square-foot building divides into three major components: an area office, a 10,000-square-foot production and training floor, and a special services unit for occupational and physical therapy. Daylighting, connections to nature, and a range of green principles run through the design, fostering a healthy, productive workplace for clients and staff.
