This two-phase renovation and expansion of the Lib Jackson Student Union transforms a dated facility into a comprehensive campus hub for student life. A key design feature is the linear lobby and lounge that connects the original building with the new addition, creating an internal “main street” facing Spadoni Park that establishes an architectural language integrating old and new, both functionally and visually.

Phase I adds approximately 40,000 square feet to the west of the existing building, including student organization spaces, enhanced recreation facilities, expanded food service options, and a 250-seat multi-purpose theater. Phase II provides 36,000 square feet of large event and conference space along with additional lounge and food service areas. The project is a collaboration between Q+ and WTW Architects and has achieved LEED Gold certification.
