Northside Elementary occupies a campus of buildings dating to the 1950s and serves as home to one of the district’s elementary art magnet programs. The project solution balances renovation and new construction against tight budget and phasing constraints on a neighborhood site with significant topographic challenges. The result is a new arts wing that supports the school’s core mission while keeping options open for the future.

The arts wing uses a pre-engineered structure with brick veneer to house instructional space and a large multi-purpose room for performance and physical education. Its placement allows outdated classroom wings to be demolished and replaced in a later phase. The scheme stretches the project budget, expands deficient core-capacity spaces, and delivers a flexible space tuned to Northside’s needs.
