Two additions expand the most in-demand programs at this vocational training center, the outcome of an extensive study and programming exercise that Q+ led with the district and faculty. Culinary Arts, one of the center’s most popular programs, occupies a prominent new addition at the front corner of the school. A generous expanse of glass tracks across the lab and opens at the corner nearest the main entrance, animating the street front and giving passersby a view of student activity inside.
The showpiece of the Culinary Arts addition is a daylight-filled lab built around three large stainless steel cooking suites that integrate counter space, storage, and cooking equipment, with equipment and ventilation hoods arranged for an efficient layout that preserves volume and visibility. A second addition at the rear of the school provides classroom and lab space for a life-skills curriculum: three flexible classrooms support small-group activities and hands-on instruction in daily living skills, each with a large window framing the wooded landscape, and a shared residential-style kitchen serves cooking instruction and demonstrations.
