Set on a serene site in the Chapin area of the Midlands, Piney Woods Elementary reflects a programming process grounded in clear values: fostering student empowerment, ensuring a secure and supportive atmosphere, and adapting to evolving educational methods to succeed in a technology-driven society.
The 105,000-square-foot, two-story school serves 750 students and is organized around a central, secure courtyard that connects the Media Center and Related Arts classrooms. The building is zoned for functionality and security, with grade levels on the east side of a central lobby and an administration area, and community spaces such as the gymnasium and cafeteria to the west. Generous windows provide daylighting and views throughout, promoting health and well-being for students and staff.
