12,000 Year History Park Visitor Center
The River Alliance, in partnership with the City of Cayce and the Boyd Foundation, is developing the 12,000 Year History Park at Congaree Creek — a site with archaeological evidence of continuous human activity for over 12,000 years.
The Visitor Center will serve as the primary entry point to the park. The building includes exhibit space, a video theater, and public restrooms with separate exterior access. Its design references artifacts and fossils discovered on site through sloping walls with engraved patterns, providing a distinct and identifiable gateway to the park.
Site improvements to support the Visitor Center include parking, a plaza, an outdoor amphitheater, and a connection to the adjacent riverfront greenway.
