A key component of the University of South Carolina’s InnoVista initiative, the Discovery Plaza parking deck supports the continued growth of the surrounding biomedical research and office facilities while creating an active street-level presence along Park Street. The project incorporates space for the nationally recognized USC String Project, an outreach program that provides accessible string education for community children while creating valuable teaching opportunities for USC students.

The eight-story, 1,400-car garage features facades that reflect its precast concrete structure, using colors and materials that complement the surrounding research buildings. The String Project occupies space directly across from the USC School of Music and includes rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, and support areas designed to serve the program’s educational mission. The facility also helps address parking needs in the Vista, supporting events at the University’s Koger Center for the Performing Arts and the Colonial Center arena. Quackenbush Architects + Planners serves as Design Architect, with the LPA Group as Architect of Record.
